Orange-Barred Sulphur Butterfly
An Orange-Barred Sulphur butterfly (Phoebis philea) feeds on flower nectar on it's second to last day of the "Butterflies Alive" exhibition at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History on Friday, September 14, 2012. The traveling exhibition showcases butterfly species from all over the world. At the end of the exhibit, the butterflies are frozen to prevent the possibility of cross-breeding with indigenous California butteflies. Shot on a Canon 180 mm Macro lens, no tripod. Magnification - approximately 1x. (Photo by Victoria Linssen © 2012, 2013)
