Peaceful protests with the NAACP

In 2011, delegates to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) joined forces with the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW) local 770 to rally for grocer’s rights. At stake were union contracts that had been held up for months over the issue of healthcare benefits. Proposed changes to the contracts would have potentially reduced grocery worker paychecks by 50% to pay for their healthcare. The geographic spread of these contracts and issues impacted more than 70,000 workers across 1,000 miles in California. If the contracts were not signed soon, a strike was inevitable. This is the short story of the rally.
